Professional Background
Since joining the company in 1972, Thomas has served as assistant general manager of Granville Towers (University of North Carolina), general manager at Osceola Hall (Florida State University), general manager of Fontana Hall (University of South Florida), and regional director of the housing/foodservice group of the Management Services department. He was promoted to vice president of the apartment group in 1983. In 1986, his duties were expanded to include commercial properties and student housing, involving him in the leasing and management of office buildings, shopping centers, and student residence halls. Thomas was named vice president of Management Services in 1988.

He is both a current member and past president of the Memphis Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), where he also served three years as Education Chairman. He holds the CPM designation conferred by IREM. Thomas served on the Catholic Diocese of Memphis Housing Corporation for 16 years, five as Chairman, from 1983 to 1999. He also holds an Affiliate Broker license from the Tennessee Real Estate Commission.
