Allen & O'Hara to join in partnership with the campus in the development of a 26-acre, $135 million mixed-use project on San Pablo Avenue in Albany, California. The rigorous nationwide RFQ and RFP selection process took one year to complete.
This project will accommodate 1,034 graduate students and 31 units of rental housing for junior faculty. Included in this project is 70,000 square feet of retail offering shops, restaurants and a grocery store. Some of the housing units will be located above the retail, creating a unique urban environment for University Village. In addition to the housing and retail, new community facilities will be added to serve both the students and residents of the adjoining community. Recreational and open space amenities will include extensive green space, new little league fields, a 17,000 square foot community center with gymnasium, a childcare facility, a maintenance building and the restoration of two creeks that run through the site.
Allen & O'Hara will manage the housing upon completion of construction. This development is one of three phases that will ultimately house approximately 3,000 graduate students, married students and faculty.
